Photographer Sebastian Faena

Photographer Sebastian Faena was born in 1980 in Buenos Aires. He studied literature and music at Columbia University for two years before leaving to pursue his first feature film, La Mujer Rota—released to both controversy and acclaim in his native Buenos Aires in the fall of 2007. In 2008, he made his powerful editorial debut with a twenty-page story in V Magazine and has since established himself as a unique talent in the industry, distinctly capturing the top female faces in fashion and entertainment.
His bold and dramatic photographs, charged with emotion and narrative, distinguish Faena's work among his contemporaries. He has produced memorable editorials, including Pop Magazine's controversial "Hot Nuns" in collaboration with editor Katie Grand (which includes six portrait covers styled by Miuccia Prada) or the tongue-in-cheek "Footballers Wives" for V Magazine with fashion editor Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele. Faena is a regular contributor to V Magazine. He lives and works in New York City.
