Will the meter tell you which shutter speed is appropriate as it does in digital cameras? oh i meant that on the ring of the lens there are a bunch of numbers (ft, meters, aperture).. is that just to put your subject into focus?
I guess you’re talking about the AE-1, and no, the meter won’t tell you which shutter speed is appropriate because the AE-1 works using shutter priority mode, it’s not fully automatic, which means you set the shutter speed you want, and the camera will set the aperture based on the ISO of the film and shutter speed you’ve chosen, or you can use it on manual!
there is an aperture setting on the lens, which you can use to change the aperture if you want to shoot manually, the rest of the numbers are just to help you focus faster and give you an idea of focusing distances and stuff.
