In preparation for the Live Desk of Mrs. Deane, next weekend in Utrecht, I want to show you some work of Jason Larkin, a 32-yo photographer and winner of the 2011 Arnold Newman Award. The first work I encountered, was his series Working Young, dealing with illegally employed children at a brick factory in Egypt. His Gaza Laid Bare is an impressive document about the 22-day during operation “Cast Lead” of the Israeli army in 2008. Larkin shows, among others, a short history of a police station, the harbour, the Al Bader flour factory and the Gaza zoo.
